I was asked to give a lesson to the youth group that I am involved with at church. I asked God what I should teach on and He said "Walls". He gave me no further information and as the day came closer for me to deliver this lesson I became a bit worried that I hadn't been able to put anything together. I asked God again and He said that I wasn't to worry about it.

When I got home from work on Tuesday My wife showed me some blocks that she had bought for a very young member of the family for Christmas. Then I knew what I had to do. The story below is what God gave me to share with our youth group. (9 - 12 year olds)

Sarah's Wall

This is a story about a little girl called Sarah, who got really hurt and allowed things in her life to build up until the got too big for her to handle.

She had this really cool friend, but one day this friend came and said "I don't want to be your friend any more"

This really hurt Sarah and she tried to hide the hurt she felt behind a wall.

If you hold your mouse over the different colours of the wall you will see how she was feeling.

Just when Sarah thought things were really bad, along came another friend and said "Look at our new car! It is so cool and way better than yours!"
Poor Sarah, she couldn't help feeling more than a little bit jealous (green) and angry (red) that they couldn't have a nice car too. She felt hurt again and it just seemed to add to the wall that she had already built.
It just wasn't Sarah's day, because not long after that someone else came along. He said to her "I don't like you and I'm going to give you a bash after school."

Poor Sarah. She couldn't help being afraid (yellow) and angry at the same time. Why was all this happening? It was just too much for her to cope with!

Not knowing what else to do, she called out to God and asked Him for help.

God knocked Sarah's big wall over, but at the same time He changed the meaning of the colours.

Blue was no longer sadness, but was changed to mean Heaven and the hope we have in God.

Green was no longer envy, but was changed into spiritual and natural growth and understanding.

Yellow became Gold and instead of being fear, it became the quality of a life that has God in it.

But best of all, red, instead of being anger, showed the love that sent Jesus to the cross in our place to pay for our sins.

And as Sarah was filled with this new hope, she was able to stand on the now broken wall and she was a bigger person because of it.

She was able to forgive everyone and found peace with God.
