The Spirit of Death

The little girl was very sick, and the specialists had no answers.

The Spirit of Death

The Spirit of Death seems to be one that we hear very little about, but one that is nevertheless, very active in the demise of people, both Christian and non-Christian. This spirit's greatest weapon is in his lack of recognition. In other words, the Spirit of Death is able to go around destroying lives, for the most part unchallenged, simply because people overlook him.

This spirit is a single identity, so is not omnipresent as is God, but he is a leader in charge of many other spirits. He has under his command other spirits such as sickness, dispair, suicide, torment, murder, and a whole host of others. The good news is that all of these spirits, including Death, are subject to the Name of Jesus!

An Encounter

I would like to share with you an encounter I had with the Spirit of Death some years ago. It all started with some friends who attended the same church as I did having a very sick daughter. This poor wee girl was pretty well bed ridden and was going downhill. Doctors and specialists alike were unable to identify the problem and none of the things they tried seemed to make any difference. The parents, a lovely Christian couple, were beside themselves with concern for their daughter, understandably so.

One night as I was praying I included this girl in my prayers. The Lord told me that the Spirit of Death had hold of her. The next day I approached the parents thinking that at last they would be able to do something positive about their daughter's predicament, but that was not the case. They did not believe me and scoffed at what I had to say. I went home licking my wounds and then doubt kicked in. Was I imagining it all?

I went back to the Lord and He seemed to confirm what He told me. I had no idea what to do next as I had never really had to deal with anything like this before. I asked the Lord what should be done, and really felt to pray against this spirit. In Jesus name I bound that spirit and told him to release the girl from his grip. When I felt that I had done what needed to be done I asked the Lord for a sign that this was really happening and not just my imagination. I remember thinking to myself, what would be impossible considering their present situation, and then the idea came to me. I asked the Lord that, if this was all for real, let the little girl be at church the next morning for the Sunday service. There was no way that this was going to happen without a miracle.

The next morning I arrived at church early and honestly, you could have blown me over with a feather when I saw mum and dad walked in with their little daughter! They were as surprised as I was that she was able to come! It was nothing short of a miracle! The excitement I felt was incredible and after the service I approached the parents to let them know what had happened. They had no idea why their daughter was suddenly well enough to go to church, but continued to reject what I had to say. Not long after that they moved to Auckland, some 500kms away and I lost touch with them, so I have no idea what ever became of their daughter.

The Bottom Line

As a Christian I had encountered a few demons, but had not had much to do with them. With my lack of experience I was dependent on the Lord to guide me, which He did. The bottom line is this. ALL demons are subject to the name of Jesus. It's not a big issue, however there are some precautions that need to be in place.

1. Make sure that you are a born again Christian otherwise the demon/s may turn on you.
Act 19:13 And certain from the strolling Jews, exorcists, undertook to name the name of the Lord Jesus over those having evil spirits, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.
Act 19:14 And there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so.
Act 19:15 But answering the evil spirit said, Jesus I know, and I comprehend Paul, but who are you?
Act 19:16 And the man in whom the evil spirit resided leaped on them, and overcoming them he was strong against them, so that they fled out of the house naked and wounded.

2. Make sure you don't release the demon/s from one person so that they may enter another.
I remember once being in a church meeting of around 1,000 people. There was a visiting speaker, I think from Australia, who had a word of knowledge that someone had a deceiving spirit, and he proceded to rebuke that spirit and command that it leave that person. The spirit did leave that person and then proceded to go amongst the congregation to see where it might dwell next. How do I know? I saw it. It is the only time I have actually seen a spirit, but not the only time I have come across them or seen what they can do.

3. Make sure that the person being set free is a Christian, or is prepared to become one straight away.
Mat 12:43 When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he walks through dry places seeking rest, and finds none.
Mat 12:44 Then he said, I will return into my house from where I came out. And when he has come, he finds it empty, swept, and decorated.
Mat 12:45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and live there. And the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so it also shall be to this evil generation.

4. Ensure that the person set free remains free. Buddy up with them and make sure that they stay clear of the things that may have allowed the demon to influence them in the first place. Encourage them in their walk with the Lord so that He becomes the focus of their life.

Remember!

Jesus is Lord! His name is higher than any other name! At the name of Jesus every knee must bow. If you are not sure what to do, get help from your church or pastor.

Php 2:10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of heavenly ones, and of earthly ones, and of ones under the earth;
